Bilal Hamid, Family Inspiration from Mexico Mobile Solutions

June 27, 2010 | Comments Off

In Islamabad, Pakistan, we ran into Bilal Khalid Qanungoh at Salman Ansari’s office. His latest projects include Broadband over Power Lines, IP Telephony, and Virtual Phone Numbers in United Kingdom, Poland and Mexico. He just sold an MVNO openmobile, acquired by Tebess? Can’t hear. Bilal, are you reading? (He’s in my Facebook network.) NEXT BIG AREA: Mexico. He has relatives in Mexico that have inspired him to start a business that will help Mexican expats in the USA where they can give their family back home a local Mexico number that will ring the expat no matter where he or she is… on IM, PC softphone, or mobile SIP agent. He’ll be using DIDX for international (local) phone numbers. He’s working with 3V in Ireland for mobile banking solutions in Mexico. He believes that majority of people are more comfortable using their cell phone than a computer for life needs. Bilal wants more than just to offer mobile or telephony. Real applications that solve real problems… to start in this order: mobile banking, virtual phone numbers and broadband over power lines. Corrections I just received: Bilal does not have relatives in Mexico but is concerned about helping Mexican immigrants to the USA to stay in touch with their relatives in Mexico. As an entrepreneur he sees Mexico as an excellent potential market for telecom services. His UK MVNO was OPAL Mobile, www.opalmobile.co.uk which has been acquired by TOPAZ.

Axis Todai Online – A new e-learning service using DP&P by WAO

April 27, 2010 | Comments Off

A teacher who is a student of Tokyo University (That is a university of the highest rank in Japan) teaches a student (A high-school, a junior high-school and an elementary school) who lives far from Tokyo using DP&P via Internet. A student writes an answer in a “diginote” with the digital pen and written answer is sent to wao’s office where a teacher stands by. When a class started, both of them use PC with a web camera, DP&P and a mobile phone. A teacher corrects answers or writes additional comments with a digital pen in a digital sheet, then all written data can be sent to PC in realtime, which can be shared between a student and a teacher. While seeing each other via a web camera, while speaking via a mobile phone, (*instead of IP phone due to a sounds quality problem) while writing and seeing each answer or comments, a face-to-face individual e-learing has become possible wherever students are living.

Hi there – how can i stop my daughter phoning mobile numbers from my home phone?

April 20, 2010 | 9 Comments

My 13 year old daughter has rang up a huge bill by phoning mobile numbers from our house phone. We have a free unlimited calls to local and national numbers but not to mobiles. She has a mobile phone – but she continues to use our house phone. My son (10 years) is starting to do so also. What service can I use or I don’t mind buying a phone that will stop them phoning mobile phones but not stop them phoning local numbers in case of emergency.

thanks

geograffiti for the iphone3g – old version

March 17, 2010 | Comments Off

geograffiti is a free verbal publishing platform for ‘marking’ local places with informative voice messages. Its Voice Marks and Biz Marks are short phone recordings, made public and geotagged to a real-world place so other mobile phone callers can hear and benefit from public opinion or business promos while on location when the information is most pertinent. The geograffiti Voice Marking platform was created to unite and share the local knowledge contained within the US’s estimated 200 million US mobile phone subscriber base, and by doing so satisfy some of today’s “on-the-go” informational needs. With the release of the iphone3g, users can install the geograffiti app and benefit from the iphone3g GPS features making publishing or retrieving Voice Marks a quick and easy process. The geograffiti service is in public beta and free to use on any mobile phone with any wireless carrier. To publish or listen to Voice Marks with any phone, simply call geograffiti’s voice platform at (213) 221-3802 or use our online Google map-mashup at www.geograffiti.com/gu/searchmap.html geograffiti is also used for small business ad-hoc advertising whereby business owners communicate their special offerings to mobile phones in their store’s vicinity using geograffiti Biz Mark messages. For specific information on Biz Mark advertising see www.geograffiti.com/bizfaq.html
