How To connect to a Speedstream 4200 in Bridge Mode
If you have set up your Speedstream 4200 Modem in bridge mode it will normally be connected to another Router which has been set up to perform the PPPoE Logon required to connect to your ISP.
Once the modem is setup in this manner you will not be able to access the Modem directly from your computer while it is attached to the Router. To connect to the Modem, incase you need to change something, you need to perform thefollowing steps:
- Disconnect the modem from the Router and plug the Ethernet cable from the Modem directly into a PC.
- Change the Network configuration of your PC to have a Static IP address in the same address range as the SS 4200. If you are using a Telstra supplied modem, then the IP address of the modem will be 10.0.0.138, so you should set it to, for example, 10.0.0.2 as pictured. Note you do not need to have any gateway or DNS entries!
- Now bring up you Internet Browser and enter the IP address of the modem into the address bar. The modem should now respond.
- When you have finished your configuration changes, plug the modem back into the router and change you network setup on your PC back to using DHCP.
The default IP address is: 10.0.0.138 (Bigpond); 10.1.1.1 (OptusNet ); 192.168.254.254 (Standard Firmware)
The default Username is: admin, the default password is also admin when supplied by Bigpond or No Password if supplied by OptusNet
